Team India lost by one wicket in the first ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka. Although the batsmen failed initially, the bowlers showed an excellent fighting spirit. Due to batting and fielding mistakes, India lost this match.
Among the Indian batters, except for KL Rahul (73), all the rest of the batters were deeply disappointed.
After the match, Indian captain Rohit Sharma reacted to this defeat. Rohit said that if he had scored another 25 to 30 runs in the batting, the result of the match would have been different.
“We fought brilliantly in this match. All the credit should go to the bowlers. They worked very hard to bring the man so close.
From the first ball, our bowlers did not give any chance to the Bangla batters. The pacers gave 100 percent effort till the end. But we failed to bat. The target of 184 runs was not enough.
Had we scored 25-30 more runs the result would have been different. If we look at the score of our innings in 25 overs, we thought that we will score 240 to 250 runs.
But with the loss of wickets in a row, we were limited to only my score. Especially we need to learn how to play on such a pitch.
So in our next two practice sessions, we will understand and practice this wicket. I think our boys will learn a lot from this match.
We look forward to our next match. I hope we will do better in the second ODI,” said Rohit. The second ODI between the two teams will be held on Wednesday.
